The Chrome version of the Silver Surfer Statue (released in 2005 in 2500 samples) was sculpted by Randy Bowen: it simply represents one of the most beautiful and valuable statues of the field and a coveted item by any collector. Despite the wide circulation, in fact, its market quotations have reached stratospheric levels and to be able to grab one of the (rare) auctions concerning it on the various international ebay sites is anything but simple! On the other hand, the reasons for such a relevant success are quite evident: the linear and elegant sculpt perfectly conveys the style and charisma of the character and the pseudo chrome plating, made in an exemplar way, exponentially amplifies the incredible appeal of the figure, making it a very sought-after statue among all collectors. Silver Surfer is erect in a perfect museum pose on a small hemispherical surface (representing a sort of lunar soil) and supports his board with an extraordinary naturalness. The right arm is relaxed and slightly detached from the body, while the left acts as a substantial support at the long surfboard. The face is rotated, the long legs together and the feet well shaped on the small base. The expression of the face is austere and aloof: he almost gives off a sense of noble pride, thanks to the great contrast between the color of the silver plating and the two large white eyes, barely outlined in black. The somatic features are well defined, soft and also very similar to the original tables of John Buscema. The physique is nothing short of statuary: the large pectorals stand out on the rib cage and the muscles of the arms, legs and back (designed and sculpted with a great skill) highlight the body of the hero and his wonderful sleek contour. Note the realism and beauty of the hands: the right is open in an elegant attitude and the left almost resting on the edge of the board, which, however, it holds up with an incredible ease. The amazing sculpt is then enhanced at best by the chrome plating, very bright and well distributed, which provides a really top-notch glance. Undoubtedly through this statue Bowen succeeded to grasp the essential traits of this amazing supehero and to represent his pride and elegance with a spectacular work of art.
